Yeah but by them it won't be worth it's while anyway if you look at how quickly computers are evolving. I'll have to hold onto this for quite a while though, college does not make you rich.

I'm pretty sure when I was filtering through the options for my PC I never once had to add it to my cart until I got everything right, I could figure out the price and what I needed before I added it to my cart.

So why did you add it to your cart, then order it by phone? Was there some other benefit from adding it to your cart that I missed? Meh, I'm not sure how their phone system works in relation to peoples online accounts, just wondering.
I was checking the taxes. I was tired. I was being lazy. I said this in the Dell forums. I am a shopper online first. With Dell I have always bought over the phone. This is how you can get free shipping. We have a UPS Daily account at where I work. That means at our business where I work we have UPS stop by everyday to pick up our products we sell. So I know how much it costs to ship anything from point to point. Dell like allot of companies charge way too much to ship their products. I remember they wanted $100.00 to ship my Dim 4600 two years ago. I just laughed...and told the rep on the phone...that shipping is a deal breaker....they waived it. It was more like $20.00 to ship the computer box. I did not order a monitor then just the Dim 4600 and they wanted $100.00

Now my most recent computer purchase they waived the shipping, but, they charge me a $19.00 adminstration fee. I call is a Handling Fee. They charge me for the box it came in. I didn't have that big of problem with that. Where I work I know how much Tape,Boxes, Packing materiel, cost. So I let that go. What irritated me more today is the fact they charge you for a Resource disk....in other words your XP disk. That is low....$10.00 for that.

Also for all of you guys that are trashing Dell's product...that isn't what this thread is about...it is about Customer Service. This is a growing problem with all the Outsourcing of Jobs to Third World countries. Then they insult us by having these "reps" introducing themselves as "Mike" or "Sam". That is not there names. Tell me the truth. I understand allot of these outsourced workers from these countries really need these jobs. The Phone Centers where they work are self supporting. They have Air conditioning, their own power sources (Generators). They are much better places to be at then the workers own homes they live in. I can understand this...I am not callous. Then again I am from Michigan. We here have taken some of the biggest hits on the downward economy. There are many people here out of work because of this Outsourcing.

I do not have a problem with Dell's Product. This monitor the 2001FP 20.1" UltraSharp is one of the best rated monitors out there. It out ranks many monitors that cost much more. That is why I wanted ONE. If I was a rich guy...two would be cool looking on my desk...side by side. A friend of mine got the 2405FPW 24" WideScreen. That is the ultimate in my book. It has a 12ms response time...mine has a 16ms. However it was not on sale. Mine was $224.00 off. This week it is only $121.00 off. This is the first monitor I have bought since 2000. That was my Dell P991 Trinitron 19" CRT. A great monitor...but it is starting to die. So it was time to upgrade. I was waiting for a decent one to upgrade too. One with a decent Millisecond rating. 16ms is as high as I wanted to go. So far I haven't seen any blur. Dell has their 1905FP 19" Ultrasharp on sale too. That was the best bang for the buck price. However, it is a 20ms one and I also wanted a bigger display. you have to give Dell credit on this Ultrasharp line. It is a good product, and the reviews are pretty positive. They do give you a 3 year warranty for the purchase price. I was amazed that they did not want to sell me a extended warranty.

I'd still rather goto college be apart of there dell contract and get 30% off the price of there HDTV's that I can use as a Computer Monitor by either DVI/VGA/RCA/SVIDEO....

then mount it on my wall and never have to TURN MY HEAD to look at this CRT ever again...

heck its a TV and a computer monitor... I dont have to buy a tv if lets say I ever use a console...

this is like perefect for dorm users limited on space...
But recent stories in the news papers about limited space in dorms brought that up... huh 1/3 of a million people are in this city....

Sorry to hear about the problems you've had Dood. I have a similar problem with a home gym I ordered over the telephone after checking the price online (yes I do use it, not rgularly but It hasn't turned into a clothes line yet).

Anyways they sent it with parts missing, so I ask them to pick it up and send me a new one. What do they do? - they send me another and charge me twice. Every time I call the nubs they put a CRM on the phone and she just keeps telling me a load of crap about how they are so sorry and they will send someone in a couple of days.

I must have called them like 10 times and they kept this charade up for a month. Then I got really pissed and reported them to my credit card company who got my money back there and then. The assholes came to pick up their trash really quick after that. These jerks have no right to charge you without your permission and if you paid by credit card they (card company/bank) should be able to get your money back immediately like they did for me, since that payment was never authorised by you. IANAL (I am not a lawyer) but I think that counts as fraud/theft but they would probably just blame it on a misunderstanding.

I've ordered Dells on-line for all of my kids(2 so far, the third this week) and I have yet to pay shipping on any order, but then again I buy them the bottom of the barrel and always get whatever deal they have going at the time. The bottom of the line Dells is perfect for grade school, and throwing in a GB of ram(after market) allows the machines to be perfectly suited for GW(hence why I have it loaded on every computer in the house.

When we went to buy a laptop, I took an add from Best Buy for a Toshiba to the Dell kiosk at the local mall, they couldn't match the components and the price was almost $400 higher, went with the Toshiba.
